Thermocouple Water Heater

thermocouple water heater

    water heater
  • Water heating is a thermodynamic process using an energy source to heat water above its initial temperature. Typical domestic uses of hot water are for cooking, cleaning, bathing, and space heating. In industry, both hot water and water heated to steam have many uses.

  • a heater and storage tank to supply heated water

  • An appliance for supplying hot water for purposes other than space heating or pool heating.

  • A thermocouple is a junction between two different metals that produces a voltage related to a temperature difference. Thermocouples are a widely used type of temperature sensor for measurement and control and can also be used to convert heat into electric power.

  • (Thermocouples) small devices placed near the nostrils or mouth to measure air flow by sensing temperature changes; expired air is warmer than inspired air.

  • A thermoelectric device for measuring temperature, consisting of two wires of different metals connected at two points, a voltage being developed between the two junctions in proportion to the temperature difference

  • a kind of thermometer consisting of two wires of different metals that are joined at both ends; one junction is at the temperature to be measured and the other is held at a fixed lower temperature; the current generated in the circuit is proportional to the temperature difference

The Gaggia espresso with PID controller installed. I did not include pictures of the process of wiring the PID to the SSR, the thermocouple, the toggle switch or the power, simply because I did a very sloppy job of drilling out holes in the project box. I intend to install an ambient (copper coil style) pre-heater soon, so I will take pictures of that and of the project box, if I replace this one with a new one at that time.

This is the data collection computer. It is connected to the small photovoltaic cell on the roof, as well as 7 thermocouples. The thermocouples measure temperature outside as well as the inlet and outlet of the panel, reservoir, and one of the other water heaters.
